MY WORK
About Me....
FB_IMG_1582700817712.jpg

I was born in Richmond, California.  We moved to Oakdale where I attended grammar and high school.

As a very shy, introverted child, I experienced the numbing effect of one teacher.  Wasn't it her job to nurture her student's fragile creativity?  Mrs. Blake where are you now?

I graduated from MJC and Stanislaus State with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree.

I was employed by Stanislaus County, Department of Social Services, for 33 years retiring in 2003.  I started as an Eligibility worker, eventually promoting into Information Technology where I managed the Tech Support Division.

Retirement was life changing for me...

I slowly began to unlock that long stifled need to create.  The next 15 years rolled out like a stampede of crazy turtles.  I am a diverse artist, working in multiple media: acrylics, mosaics, mixed media (3 dimensional) and stone carving.

If I think it, I can create it.

I have exhibited and won awards at the Mistlin gallery.  I have done several mosaic workshops at Nicole Slater's studio in Modesto.  In 2019 I was awarded Best of Show at the juried,  members only, Autumn 2019 Mistlin Gallery Show.

I require an audience for my work.  It is not enough for me to 'just enjoy' doing it.  I want to be famous.  My work 'tells a story' and is designed to cause the viewer to react.  I create a bridge from me to you.
